Compact, frame-based construction, with standardised vessels for the mashing, lautering and wort-boiling processes, are features of CombiCube B brewhouse. From a technical point of view, it was, of course, a challenge to fit together all the components of a fully functional brewhouse so as to meet the stipulations for brewing between 50 and 100 hectolitres of wort.

Cartons meet these conditions when they are precisely erected and securely sealed. And there are some dependable specialists for these tasks, in the shape of the Variocart and the Variocol families: the former “builds” properly shaped, sturdily strong packages from pre-glued blanks – the latter glues the lid flaps of the cartons, to make sure nothing happens to the products inside.

The entire PET-Asept line is accommodated on a minimised footprint – which explains the choice of a space-saving monobloc configuration: comprising a blow-moulder and a filler. The people at Norda are very satisfied with the solutions Krones has provided, and, they say, they’re only just starting their journey into the realm of aseptics – reassuringly confident they’re on the right track.
